High demand for PCs and, importantly, desktop PCs has already resulted in increased graphics card , PSU, HDD, and SSD pricing, but apparently, now DRAM is getting even more expensive, too. According to a new report from Taiwan, memory prices are set for doubledigit growth in the coming months.

According to Toms Hardware, the prices for RAM are due to decrease from 3% to 8% during Q4 2021. This is mainly due to excess inventory, a phrase that millions of folks hope could be said for graphics cards as well. The projection comes from the Taiwanese semiconductor industry analyst TrendForce.

According to a report by TrendForce, global DRAM prices are set to come down over the next few months. By Q1 2022, the report predicts that DDR5 RAM modules will see their prices decline by as much as 8 percent. With DDR5 kits selling for US$300 and up, this might not seem like much.

As a result, due to the delicate balance of customer demand, cyclical downturn, and DRAM suppliers chasing profits, TrendForce projects that PC DRAM prices (DDR4) could drop 5 to 10 percent during Q1 2022. On the other hand, DDR5 prices are set for a slightly lower decrease of 3 to 8 percent.
