Quake Live is no Longer Free-to-play

Quake Live, arguably the most enduring freetoplay firstperson shooter, is no longer freetoplay. An update published yesterday on the games Steam page announced the arrival of Steamworks integration and the termination of the Quake Live subscription service.

Is Quake Live Still Free?

Quake Live was previously a free-to-play game, with subscription options offering additional arenas, game types and game server options. As of October 27, 2015, the game is no longer free and must be purchased, and the subscription options were dropped.
