Many people have been asking about FreeSync on the new Xbox Series X and Series S. And were happy to share that both support FreeSync. Its the same setup as was on the Xbox One X and Xbox One S through HDMI 2.0.

Does FreeSync Work with Xbox One?

Microsoft supports FreeSync on Xbox One consoles, adjusting refresh rates on the fly to reduce screen tearing and stuttering in gaming. While hundreds of special FreeSynccompatible displays are on the market, Xbox One consoles are limited to a subset with HDMI support.

Does FreeSync 2 Work with Xbox One X?

More recently, AMD created an enhanced version called FreeSync 2, which is backwards compatible with the original FreeSync spec, so the Xbox One S /X will support both FreeSync 2 and FreeSync displays.

Microsofts Xbox consoles use HDMI variable refresh rate , or VRR, delivered via HDMI 2.1 on the Xbox Series X and Series S. This technology is compatible with VESA Adaptive Sync and therefore AMD FreeSync works in conjunction with Xbox consoles.

Does AMD FreeSync Work with Xbox Series S?

The Series S and Series X support HDMI 2.1, and feature more advanced levels of AMD FreeSync with refresh rates up to 120Hz. FreeSync on Xbox consoles does need to be enabled in the dashboard settings as it does not automatically switch on even when connected to a compatible FreeSync display.
