Why does Nintendo Hate Fan Games?

Nintendo doesn't hate fan games; rather, Nintendo hates it when people try to make money off of their products. They are afraid of what game developers are like nowadays. I've seen some pretty damn awesome Pokémon ROM hacks, for example, that are on par with actual Pokémon games.

Why is Nintendo against Fan Games?

If people are using nintendo characters to make games without permission then Nintendo (or whoever) are potentially losing money. The characters are copyright and to copy them or use them without permission is against copyright law. Copyright law is there for a reason.

Why do Nintendo Hate their Fans?

They want you in physical proximity to other people playing the games because that creates a positive feedback loop that gets you and your friends to buy the same things as each other. So for people who want online features and a big software library and fan projects, it feels like Nintendo hates them.

Does Nintendo Allow Fan Games?

In January of 2021, Nintendo initiated the biggest shutdown of fan games ever. They did so because Game Jolt made it possible to monetize one's content, and when fan games become products, they become undisputedly illegal. This order resulted in a whopping 379 fan games being dropped from the site entirely.

Why does Nintendo Hate the Melee Community?

Nintendo just didn't want to have their games be known under the stigma of a “competitive-only” playstyle and even one of their games. They didn't want to do what Capcom had already done. They never advertised for it, and wished that the franchise wasn' t as successful, forcing them to make newer versions.
