As I press this button it will put that block into my inventory or if I already have it it will add it into a stack.

In creative mode , it lets you select a block if youre looking at it in the world.
Does Pick Block Work in Survival?

Pick Block Controls should be Different
Pick block is a very useful control, that I use frequently. And even more useful, in creative only, is pick block that copies block data Chest contents, commands in command blocks , ect.. However, this can only be used with a keyboardctrl+pickblock.
