Click on the Apple menu icon in the upper left corner of your Macs screen.
Click on System Preferences.
Click on Networks.
Click on Advanced.
Untick the box for Remember networks this computer has joined.

Why does my Mac Keep Looking for Wi-Fi Networks?

macOS will automatically start looking for networks when you click on the WiFi icon in the menu bar because, its assuming technically, the developers assumed that youd want to see all the available networks. Thus it does a scan. Once you close the GUI, it no longer scans.

Why does my Mac Keep Switching Networks?

If you have different WiFi connections listed on your Mac settings , it includes an option called AutoJoin that will automatically connect when available. To prevent switching of networks, uncheck the AutoJoin options on WiFi connections you dont want. Go to System Preferences on your Mac.
