Why are my Videos Playing in Fast Forward Mac?
To fix this issue, open Activity Monitor and under the CPU tab find the coreaudiod process. Once coreaudiod restarts, it will reappear under the CPU tab. Afterward, close Activity Monitor, and try to play back a video. If fixed, video playback should go back to normal with sound and with standard 1x playback speed.
Why are my Videos Playing too Fast?
One common cause of wrong playback speed is interlacing : when you deinterlace a video youre normally doubling the number of frames, so you must double the playback speed. They may increase the frame rate if something is moving in the scene. They may decrease the frame rate if there are connection issues.

Thus, over years our minds have tightly associated that enhanced frame rate with things on screen “moving faster than normal”. So when we see a video shot natively in 60fps, and are taking in those extra frames, that fast-forward identification programming is triggered.
